Associate Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school students. Using our original curriculum and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, Associate Instructors play an integral part in supporting our Scholars’ journeys to a competitive college and beyond. Associate Instructors promote depth of understanding and skill acquisition by serving as a coach and facilitator of learning. Associates co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors do not have grading responsibilities. DATES, SCHEDULE, & WEEKLY HOURS Dates: The start and programming dates depend on which grade level the instructor is placed. 9th Grade: Instructor Orientation: Saturday , 2/28, 9:00am-2:00pm Scholar Orientation: Saturday, 3/7 Saturday Academy (8 total): 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 10th Grade: Instructor Orientation: Saturday, 1/24, 9:00-2:00pm Saturday Academy (10 total): 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 4/1, 4/18, 4/25, 5/9 Schedule: Math Associate Instructors co-teach four 50-minute lessons to 2 groups of approximately 25-30 Scholars. Your schedule will also include an instructional prep period. Individual teaching schedules will vary within the 9:00 am-4:00 pm instructional time frame. Weekly Hours: Associate Instructors are allotted 8 maximum hours per week during their seasonal employment, made up of Standard and Flex Hours. Standard Hours are when the associate instructor must be working on site with staff or students instructing a class or engaging with an instructional prep or support period: Saturdays, 9:00am-4:00pm (with a 50 minute lunch) = ~ 6 Hour s/weekly Flex Hours make up the additional “teacher work” educators know go into the job. This is time spent preparing for the lesson, grading, entering gradebook data, writing Scholar feedback, communicating with staff and Scholars, etc. These are hours put in outside of the required schedule and can be completed asynchronously throughout the week = up to 2 Flex Hours/weekly There will also be future opportunities for Summer or Fall semesters SITE LOCATION: Saturday Academy Programming will take place at the UC Law campus: 200 McAllister St, San Francisco, CA 94102; off the Civic Center BART stop COURSES The math courses offered at SEO include: For Spring 2026, the following math courses will be offered: 9th Math: Numbers and Operations 10th Math: Trigonometry Relevant Skills: Numbers and Operations, Graphs and Relationships, and Algebra/Pattern and Structure Courses Skills include: properties of numbers; expressions, equations, and identities; ratio and rate; percentages; proportional reasoning; irrational numbers; linear, quadratic, and exponential functions (including compound growth formula); algebraic representation of functions; graphing functions and identifying key characteristics; modeling real-world situations with functions; systems of equations and inequalities; algebra with exponents; fractional exponents and roots; algebra with rational expressions and equations; properties 2D and 3D geometric figures; introduction to coordinate geometry. Trigonometry, Precalculus, and SAT Math Courses Skills include: triangle geometry and special triangles; trigonometric functions; inverse trig functions; radian measure; the unit circle; graphing and modeling with sine and cosine functions; unit analysis; function notation, including function composition and inverse functions; characteristics of graphs; transformations of graphs; average rate of change; introduction to limits; introduction to the derivative and the power rule; and content covered on the new digital SAT.
