MVRCS is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Physics/Mathematics Teacher to serve students in Grades 7–12. This position includes teaching mathematics courses aligned with the Saxon Math program, as well as high school Physics at the college-preparatory, honors, and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) level. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both mathematics and physics, and the ability to deliver rigorous, engaging instruction that combines conceptual understanding with practical application through labs, demonstrations, and discussion-based learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related field required
  • Physics MTEL required (or ability to obtain within one year)
  • Strong content knowledge in both mathematics and physics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school and curricular goals

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Mathematics curriculum using Saxon Math and, where applicable, IB coursework
  • Teach Physics to upper-level high school students, incorporating lectures, labs, demonstrations, and hands-on activities
  • Deliver instruction with clear, measurable learning objectives aligned to curriculum standards
  • Assess student progress regularly, including grading assignments, lab work, exams, and providing progress reports and report cards
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance in both mathematics and physics, using data to inform instruction
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
  • Foster a structured, supportive classroom environment using the school’s discipline model
  • Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Mathematics and Science departments to align curriculum and share best practices
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
  • Support students through extra help sessions and academic interventions as needed
  • Supervise and ensure the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and materials
  • Assist with standardized testing and exam proctoring
  • Participate in school duties such as lunch/recess supervision, study hall, or class coverage
  • Support additional academic programming, including MCAS preparation when needed
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture
