About The Position

MVRCS is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated English Teacher for Grades 7–12. The ideal candidate is passionate about literature and writing instruction and is committed to delivering a rigorous, content-rich curriculum. This role includes instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge and Great Books programs, with potential opportunities to teach within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework at the high school level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data, assess student performance, and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute to a team-oriented environment
  • Deep content knowledge in English language arts and literature
  • Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school and curricular goals
  • Experience evaluating student performance and writing clear, data-informed reports
  • Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment

Responsibilities

  • Implement the English curriculum in Grades 7–12, including the Great Books literature program and, where applicable, IB coursework
  • Teach up to five classes daily, each aligned with established curriculum and instructional expectations
  • Deliver engaging lessons with clear learning objectives grounded in Core Knowledge and IB methodologies
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide timely feedback, including progress reports and report cards
  • Administer standardized assessments as directed by the English Department Chair and Leadership Team
  • Collaborate weekly with the English Department to align curriculum, analyze data, and refine instructional practices
  • Maintain a structured classroom environment using the school’s discipline model
  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the English Department Chair or Assistant Director
