About The Position

We are seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Mill Machinist to join our aerospace and defense manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and optimization of advanced 5-axis CNC milling centers used to produce complex, high-precision components. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and experience working with tight tolerances in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience operating 5-axis CNC milling machines

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification in CNC machining or a related field preferred
  • Experience machining aerospace-grade materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and other high-strength alloys preferred
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Fidia controllers is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex aerospace and defense components
  • Interpret blueprints, 3D models, and GD&T to ensure accurate setups and machining processes
  • Select, install, and qualify tooling, fixtures, and workholding for multi-axis machining
  • Perform tool offsets and machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
  • Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs (G-code / M-code) at the machine
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, and toolpaths for efficient 5-axis machining
  • Use CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Siemens NX, or similar) for toolpath verification and simulation
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMM equipment
  • Maintain tight tolerances typical of aerospace components
  • Identify and resolve dimensional or surface finish issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on 5-axis milling equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve machining processes and reduce cycle times
  • Follow all aerospace and defense quality standards and safety protocols
