Will work in a large warehouse environment receiving items from delivery trucks and placing items in the appropriate warehouse area. They could also be picking items for outbound shipments, sorting inbound OCIE shipments, or manually loading or unloading trucks or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations according to the WMS. The persons in these positions will work relatively unsupervised throughout the day. At the start of the shift the person will be given a hand-held radio frequency unit with an LED readout monitor, a bar code scanner. The hand-held unit directs the material handler to the location where items need to be placed in the warehouse. The worker will also have to key in information from stock that is received to produce labels for those items. The worker must be able to verify that the items are being placed in the correct storage area. Accuracy is extremely important, but speed is also a factor. The worker must be able to recognize discrepant 15-digit part numbers.
