About The Position

The Project Director is directly responsible for the oversight of programs and operations for the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) Grant under the guidelines of the 21st CCLC grant. The primary focus will be the coordination of program development and implementation, staff development, and budget maintenance for the program as well as after-school and summer programming grant. The purpose of the grant is to help students improve in academics, attendance, behavior, and promotion rates, through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. This is a part-time, three-year, grant funded position which expires in the summer of 2027.

Requirements

Knowledge of principles related to the development of youth between five and 11 years of age.
Knowledge of the principles of organization, administration, and personnel management.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of budgeting, finance, and governmental accounting to ensure that the department is operating efficiently, complying with laws, maintaining accurate record keeping, and making fiscally responsible decisions.
Deep understanding of the school system environment and commitment to improving student achievement.
Demonstrates cultural competence and a deep understanding of and empathy for issues facing urban families.
Ability to analyze problems, proactively anticipate problems, construct back-up plans, identify alternative solutions, anticipate expected and unexpected consequences of proposed actions, and provide defensible explanations for issues.
Ability to deal with a multitude of issues and problems that unexpectedly arise.
Ability to work confidentially and with discretion.
Ability to maintain positive internal relationships with other WSFCS departments and staff members.
Ability to work cooperatively with parent groups, special education, and community agencies to assure seamless collaboration of efforts.

Skill in developing and conducting presentations.
Master's Degree in Education and 5 years of successful teaching experience
Valid NC Teacher's license required.
Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

Successful teaching experience in math, reading, and/or science at the elementary school level; experience planning and supervising educational activities.

Responsibilities

Hires, trains, and manages site coordinators and tutors for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers who will strive to improve student academics, attendance, behavior, and promotion rates.
Oversees the after-school and summer programming outlined in the 21S1 CCLC grant criteria.
Serves as liaison between school based and community based partners to ensure program success.
Plans, develops, and evaluates overall programs, services, and activities, including but not limited to lesson plans, to ensure they meet state objectives and the needs and interests of students.
Ensures the establishment and implementation of all policies and procedures that fulfill the requirements of the 21st CCLC.
Ensures the reporting of student data and information from each center to meet grant reporting requirements.
Ensures that timelines will be met.
Compiles regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance, participation, or other data as needed.
Reviews student attendance and problem-solves with site leads as needed to meet attendance requirements.
Ensures the control of center expenditures against the grant budget.
Provides direct and indirect supervision of site leaders.
Ensures and enforces compliance with organizational policies and procedures for all staff and volunteers.
Requires, manages, and provides staff development opportunities for all staff.
Conducts regular staff meetings.
Ensures a productive work environment at all sites.
Ensures that plans for technology, information management systems, and updating staff skills are implemented.
Develops partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations.
Develops and maintains public relationships to increase the visibility of the after-school and summer programs, services, and activities within the community.
Supervises and coordinates all staff and volunteers at special events.
Maintains daily contact with programs and administrative staff to interpret and explain organizational mission and standards, and to discuss issues and provide/receive information.
Maintains contact with external community and school groups, students' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to market/promote the program.
Articulate the district's mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the districts mission.
