As a Global Telecommunications carrier and provider, UK Critical National Infrastructure, this role’s commitment to improve Security controls within BT Critical Business operational systems is vital to maintain operation of BT’s day to day business, allowing the business to operate provision and maintain the UK BT network, Transmission, Access, Consumer and also supporting Openreach’s deployment of NGA & G.Fast technologies for BDUK. This role is fundamental to maintaining BT Network Management Systems Security posture, being proactive in identifying security issues and concerns and reducing risk as much as possible, whilst also being reactive when operations are threatened by issues above BT’s threat and risk appetite. 

Requirements

  • Understanding of Network Security firewall technologies and their uses (Checkpoint and Cisco)
  • Understanding of Data Centre Network Technologies
  • IP Networking Skills
  • Network routing and network routing protocol skills
  • Cisco/Checkpoint networking/security accreditations i.e CCNA / CCSA
  • Understanding of LINUX OS and Cisco ISE
  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of user access security (roles/privileges etc)
  • Proven strong customer facing skills.
  • Efficient problem solver in enterprise environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultancy to the business and delivery teams on 21CN DCN Network and Access Controls
  • Engage with Network, System and Platform designers as well as 3rd parties and Suppliers to discuss and enforce the security controls required to keep the business secure
  • Provide controlled, auditable and secure access to the 21CN DCN management network
  • Collaborate with other team members on managing the Firewall task tracking list, Group mailbox &process for 21CN including:-    1) Running daily firewall task management review calls    2) Ensuring all tasks have an assigned owner or a known/recorded state.    3) Managing Firewall tasks through to successful completion    4) Supporting any end-to-end diagnostics if required for trouble shooting connectivity issue
  • To act as a competent point of contact for All 21CN security matters, when dealing with 3rd parties, suppliers and other parts of the business
