About The Position

The intern will join the Data Science Engineering team based in Cambridge, MA. This team is part of the Data Platforms group within USBU DD&T. The team focuses on building scalable data solutions, integrating data platforms, and enabling business insights through advanced analytics and emerging technologies. The team plays a critical role in developing engineering capabilities that support strategic initiatives across the organization. The intern will support engineering efforts in Databricks, assist in developing proof-of-concepts (POCs), and contribute to data integration and visualization projects. They will also participate in GenAI initiatives aimed at enhancing business decision-making through intelligent data products.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or Spark.
  • Understanding of ETL processes and data integration concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later
  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)
  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) or CRM systems (Salesforce) is a plus.
  • Experience or interest in GenAI tools (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on engineering initiatives to build scalable data pipelines in Databricks.
  • Assist in developing POCs for best practices in data integration between Salesforce and Databricks.
  • Support the creation of data products that enable business teams to access actionable insights.
  • Build dashboards to visualize data and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to GenAI projects, including prompt engineering and intelligent application development.
  • Participate in technical discussions and document engineering approaches.
  • Work closely with your mentor on ongoing strategic initiatives.
