Program Overview The HSFCU Summer Internship Program is a full‑time, 8‑week paid experience designed for motivated students interested in exploring careers in financial services. The program provides practical exposure to credit union operations. Interns gain valuable hands‑on experience, work alongside supportive teams, build professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that enhance the employee and member experience. Key Program Details Program Dates: June 15 – August 7, 2026 Pay: $20/hour Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday (8 hours/day) Shift Times: Shifts may vary between 7:30am and 5:00pm Application Window: February 13 – March 31, 2026 What You'll Be Working On As part of the Operations Division, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in the behind‑the‑scenes functions that keep financial transactions running smoothly. Operations Support Understand the operations for ACH, wires, and check processing. Learn how to research and resolve member transaction discrepancies. Gain familiarity with compliance requirements for back-office operations. Digital Services Understand online banking and mobile app functionality. Learn how digital channels integrate with core banking systems. Assist in troubleshooting member digital access issues. Card Operations Understand debit and credit card lifecycle (issuance, activation, fraud monitoring). Learn dispute resolution and chargeback processes. Gain exposure to card network compliance and security protocols.

Requirements

  • Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in a four‑year degree program at an accredited college or university, OR enrolled in a two‑year Hawaiʻi program with plans to transfer to a four‑year Hawaiʻi institution
  • Basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organization, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and receive feedback
  • Ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision, and complete assigned tasks
  • Professionalism in a business environment
  • Prior internship or work experience not required
