Program Overview The HSFCU Summer Internship Program is a full‑time, 8‑week paid experience designed for motivated students interested in exploring careers in financial services. The program provides practical exposure to credit union operations. Interns gain valuable hands‑on experience, work alongside supportive teams, build professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that enhance the employee and member experience. Key Program Details Program Dates: June 15 – August 7, 2026 Pay: $20/hour Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday (8 hours/day) Shift Times: Shifts may vary between 7:30am and 5:00pm Application Window: February 13 – March 31, 2026 What You'll Be Working On As part of the Information Security team, you’ll support Identity & Access Management (IAM) modernization efforts and learn how cybersecurity protects members and systems.

Requirements

  • Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in a four‑year degree program at an accredited college or university, OR enrolled in a two‑year Hawaiʻi program with plans to transfer to a four‑year Hawaiʻi institution
  • Basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organization, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and receive feedback
  • Ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision, and complete assigned tasks
  • Professionalism in a business environment
  • Prior internship or work experience not required

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside senior Identity and Access Management (IAM) engineers to develop project plans that define deliverables, sequencing, and success criteria for the IAM modernization initiative.
  • Participate in evaluating and implementing modern authentication capabilities such as adaptive authentication, conditional access, role based access models, and identity lifecycle automation.
  • Assist in configuring components of the IAM platform, including policies, workflows, access rules, and integration settings.
  • Support hands on testing and validation of new authentication methods and access flows across priority business applications, including core banking systems.
  • Contribute to integration activities by reviewing system requirements, preparing test accounts, validating data flows, and documenting outcomes.
  • Track assigned tasks, identify risks or blockers, and provide clear updates for project reporting and technical leadership.
  • Participate in the development or refinement of identity standards, process maps, and documentation supporting the future state access model.
  • Assist in analyzing identity related data to confirm mapping accuracy, authorization logic, and role definitions.
  • Support change management activities such as drafting communication materials, documenting new procedures, and preparing training content for business users.
