About The Position

Verition’s Summer Internship Program – Equities Technology. Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Credit, Fixed Income & Macro, Convertible & Volatility Arbitrage, Event-Driven, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets, and Quantitative Strategies. As part of our 10-week internship program, you’ll work closely with the equities technology team to enhance your skill set and apply your studies to a wide variety of projects. Our program provides ample opportunities to learn about alternative investments, gain hands-on experience, and contribute meaningfully to a fast-growing firm. This role offers hands-on experience supporting front office investment professionals through the development of tools, data solutions, and internal applications. The intern will leverage modern AI-assisted development workflows, including Claude Code, to accelerate project delivery while building foundational software engineering skills.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Foundational programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or SQL
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Exposure to data tools such as Snowflake, Airflow, or similar
  • Interest in financial markets and investment management
  • Experience with version control (Git/GitHub)
  • Prior experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the technology team to deliver small-to-medium projects supporting portfolio managers, analysts, and traders
  • Develop and enhance internal applications and tools using AI-assisted coding workflows
  • Write clean, maintainable code with guidance from senior team members
  • Assist with data engineering tasks including querying, transforming, and visualizing financial data
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team documentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications as needed
  • Present completed work to stakeholders and incorporate feedback
