About The Position

Translational Medicine in Genentech has a vision to transform patient care through borderless, innovative, and rigorous translational science that will catalyze the development of new medicines, accelerate drug development timelines, and discover new therapeutic strategies. To fulfill our vision, we recruit talented and highly motivated scientists to develop and execute innovative biomarker and diagnostic strategies to drive clinical development through all phases of the portfolio, and conduct foundational disease-oriented translational research to maximize our scientific and clinical impact. We are seeking a motivated and passionate intern to contribute to our translational research. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on site. The Opportunity Design and conduct experiments to validate potential therapeutic hypotheses using molecular and cell biology approaches. Analyze and interpret experimental data using bioinformatics tools. Generate high-quality data to delineate the mechanisms underlying target biology. Present findings at group meetings and contribute to scientific discussions. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in May/June 2026. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
  • Required Majors: Cancer biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular biology or related disciplines.
  • Computational biology experience using R or Python, with demonstrated experience analyzing multi-omics datasets (e.g. 10x Genomics single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq etc.).
  • Hands-on molecular and/or cell biology experience, including but not limited to cell culture, CellTiter-Glo (CTG) viability assays, qPCR, and related techniques.

  • Deep understanding of cancer biology and oncogenic signaling pathways.
  • Experience of analyzing biological data (e.g.snRNAseq data) using R or Python is strongly preferred.
