About The Position

Public Affairs & Access is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Access Solutions & Patient Support; Channel & Contract Management; Corporate Communications; External Affairs; Patient Strategy; Policy, Evidence, & Access Strategy; and Strategic Business Operations. Our mission is to drive positive change in the healthcare system so that every patient can access our science. We lead the development of meaningful partnerships, forward-looking pricing, contracting and distribution strategies, and proactive policy solutions that advance a more equitable and hopeful future for all of those who need our therapies.
This position is based in Washington, DC, On-Site.
US Policy and Evidence is looking for an intern to support the team’s work in the analysis and development of policy solutions to improve affordability and equitable access for patients, support a more sustainable market-based system, and advance business objectives. Interns can expect to:
Analyze federal and state policy proposals for business impact and draft related memos;
Support the development of proactive policy solutions to improve patient access to innovative medicines;
Support government affairs and advocacy team projects, events, and other activities, as needed;
Collaborate with cross-functional business teams to better understand business operations and the impact to the business of policy proposals;
Develop valuable skills, network, gain exposure to policymaking and advocacy.
Intensive 12-weeks , full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Attend policy events in Washington, DC.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program)
• Must be pursuing a Master's degree or must have attained a Master's degree
• Must be pursuing a PhD
• Required majors: Public policy, sciences, economics (illustrative, not exhaustive)
• Strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, attention-to-detail, and communication skills
• Interest in health policy, legislation, and government affairs (through coursework, personal experience, volunteer work, or other activities)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask and work independently
