About The Position

The Employee Communications and Engagement team (ECE) within Genentech’s Corporate Communications team is seeking a summer intern to support our work in internal communications, employee engagement and employee giving and volunteerism. The intern will also be encouraged to gain cross-functional experience across Public Affairs & Access to better understand how we leverage our communications, market access, government affairs, and externally-facing capabilities to drive impact for our patients, our people, and our communities where we live and work. Interns will have peer-to-peer support, networking opportunities, and career development opportunities with other interns in Public Affairs & Access as well as throughout Genentech. Each year, ECE plans and leads Genentech Gives Back, a beloved annual tradition where employees come together to support nonprofit organizations in our communities through volunteering and giving. To date, we have volunteered more than 133,810 hours and contributed over $5.5 million through grants and individual employee contributions during Genentech Gives Back. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are May 11 or May 18, 2026 A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, or must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program)
  • Must be pursuing a Master's degree or must have attained a Master's degree
  • Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, Organizational Communications
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion
  • Proficiency with Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Digital / social media skills
  • Event planning experience
  • Experience with Wordpress, Canva or other web or digital design platforms

Responsibilities

  • Developing web, email and social media style content
  • Designing visual assets such as videos and event promos
  • Attending volunteer events to take photos and develop stories for digital channels
  • Supporting & partnering with workstream leads on event execution
