Job Summary- General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking a Legal Intern to join our Home Office Legal team. In this role, you will gain valuable hands-on experience. This internship is in-person at our St. Petersburg, FL location during the dates of May 18th to August 6th, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or law school program or be within 6 months of graduation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Attentiveness.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree or currently enrolled in undergraduate or law school program
  • Law students preferred or undergraduates with interest in government contracts, government procurement, and international compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to professional employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
  • Contributes to assigned projects and may assist with the development and maintenance of documentation or records.
  • Learns organizational processes and procedures.
  • Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
  • May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
  • Handles basic issues and problems.
  • Support legal and contracts matters.
  • Conduct legal research on a variety of topics including but not limited to government and commercial contracts, supply chain, employment law, international trade and regulatory compliance, litigation, cybersecurity and data privacy, and government enforcement/investigations.
  • Handle paperwork, approvals, and recommendations from the Legal Department staff on any given number of legal matters within the department.
