The Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (BCP) team operates in a collaborative and high-paced environment. Our core function is to develop and implement relevant, quantitative biochemical and cellular assays and experiments that directly support Genentech's biological and small molecule drug discovery initiatives. Through rigorous, scholarly methodology, we serve as integrated members of multi-disciplinary teams, characterizing optimal leads and establishing the in vitro biological strategies essential for advancing Genentech's Discovery pipeline of therapeutic antibodies and small molecule clinical candidates. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site. The successful candidate will develop and optimize functional assays with primary human T cells to identify antibodies that modulate receptor-specific membrane proximal and downstream readouts of activation. Gain hands-on experience with modern automation technologies for high-throughput applications. Learn and apply key skills for drug discovery assays including flow cytometry, multiplexed cytokine analysis, and biochemical readouts. Presentation of data in weekly team meetings to track progress and participate in discussion with scientists.
