An internship position is available for an organized and highly motivated scientist to join the laboratory of Casper Hoogenraad in the Department of Neuroscience at Genentech. The Neuroscience department of Genentech is a vibrant community that strives to discover molecular causes and therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases and by collaborating across functions bring novel therapeutic approaches to help patients. In the Hoogenraad lab, we investigate the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, and this position will center on using human iPSC-derived neuronal models to elucidate the molecular basis of Parkinson’s disease. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site. Design and conduct cell culture experiments to validate potential therapeutic hypotheses using molecular and cell biology approaches. Analyze and interpret experimental data to delineate the mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s Disease biology. Present findings at group meetings and contribute to scientific publications and discussions. Participate in the Genentech Internship Program, which provides an exceptional environment for pursuing fundamental scientific questions and sharing your science with a diverse community. Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in May/June 2026. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
