About The Position

This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson in Helvetia, Arizona. Hudbay is seeking motivated students for our 2026 Summer Internship program at the Copper World project. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a mining environment. Interns will assist with engineering, survey, and field operations to support the ongoing development of the site.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions (hot/dry) and near moving mechanical parts. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for the daily commute to the Copper World site, located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Tucson.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD software or drone piloting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Field Support: Assist with detailed field surveys, including flagging roads, pads, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Data Management: Use CAD software and other mining-specific applications to maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches of work performed.
  • Technical Reporting: Research previous survey evidence and physical records to prepare and present findings to Engineering and Operational personnel.
  • Safety & Compliance: Participate in health and safety documentation and follow-up to ensure accurate reporting and a safe work environment.
  • Operational Exposure: Gain experience in various mining circuits, which may include drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling operations.
