About The Position

We seek a motivated research intern to join the immunology group of the Computational Biology and Medicine (CBM) team within Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) organization. Our team combines deep disease and immunology expertise with state-of-the-art computational analyses to investigate therapy responses, resistance, and mechanisms of action. We aim to translate these findings back to the bench to inform and advance novel tumor drug development. This On Site Internship position is located in South San Francisco. The Opportunity Curate clinical and molecular data from internal and external sources. Identify, apply, and adapt computational methods to analyze tumor growth kinetics and explore response patterns; the project’s scope will be tailored to the candidate’s strengths and interests Document workflows, code, and results in a clear, reproducible manner. Communicate scientific progress and findings at group and departmental meetings. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are between May and June 2026. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Master's or PhD degree (enrolled student).
  • Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Biomedical engineering, Immunology/Oncology or a related field
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, visualization and statistical modeling.
  • Previous experience working in an HPC/cloud environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, ability to manage and document complex datasets.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of cancer biology and/or immunology is highly desirable.
