The department of Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (BCP) develops relevant quantitative biochemical and cellular assays and experiments to support both biological and small molecule drug discovery efforts at Genentech. Working as integrated members of multi-disciplinary project teams, we will apply scholarly, rigorous methodology to define and characterize optimal leads and to define in vitro biological strategies that will enhance Genentech's Discovery pipeline of therapeutic antibodies and small molecule clinical candidates. We are seeking a talented individual to join the Biophysics group in BCP as a Summer Intern to help develop biophysical methodologies for challenging protein targets. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site. The Opportunity The successful candidate will develop methods utilizing Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) to characterize interactions between challenging protein targets and small molecules. Explore protein engineering and other biophysical techniques that can impact early chemical matter progression. Obtain exposure to critical assays and strategies in early drug discovery. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in May/June 2026. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
