About The Position

Tampa Electric Safety and Security Department wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates the opportunity to explore career options within the field of Emergency Management. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals.

Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program is a must.
Currently pursuing a degree in: Emergency Management, Public Health, or Business.
Junior, Senior, or Graduate.
Able to organize, develop, and write professional documents.
Work on a team.
Communicate effectively.
Organized.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.
Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers.
Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities.

Nice To Haves

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a basic understanding of emergency management.
The following FEMA Independent Study (IS) Courses are recommended:
ICS 100
ICS 200
NIMS 700
NIMS 800

Responsibilities

Assisting the Emergency Management & Business Continuity team with preparedness and response activities for all types of threats and hazards.
Updating plans, documents, and emergency assignments
Develop training and exercise materials
Assist in preparing and delivery of internal team member preparedness information.
Assist with research and business continuity assessments.
