About The Position

Day in Your Life at MKS: As an Electrical Engineering Intern Graduate at MKS Instruments, you will partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Software, Optics) to contribute to new product development and existing product improvements. In this role, you will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager. Electrical Engineering Intern Overview: 3 months intern (06/01-08/28) in Milpitas CA that provides student a comprehensive and engaging experience from before your program starts to after the program ends. You Will Make an Impact By: Assisting experienced engineers with various design tasks, including circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout. Conducting hands-on laboratory work, setting up experiments, using test equipment like oscilloscopes, collecting and analyzing data, and troubleshooting circuits and systems. Supporting prototype testing and validation to ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and participating in technical meetings to understand project planning and implementation. Contributing to the entire product lifecycle from concept to production. Maintaining accurate documentation and assisting with design reviews.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Physics).
  • Solid understanding of core electrical engineering principles, including circuit theory, analog and digital design fundamentals, and power systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and power supplies.
  • Familiarity with at least one CAD software for creating schematics and layouts (e.g., Altium Designer).

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to circuit simulation software like LTspice and technical computing languages such as Python.
  • Experience with prototype assembly techniques, such as soldering or building cable assemblies.
  • Prior experience in EE project and lab work or experience related to optics.
