About The Position

Join our Applied Global Services organization as a Summer Application Developer Intern, where you will build a Python‑based analytic application that helps benchmark and improve part lifetimes across Applied global equipment fleets. This tool will support parts quality and reliability improvement, service optimization, and data-driven decision-making across multiple teams. We are looking for a curious, creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn student to work closely with experienced engineers to explore real-world semiconductor equipment data, develop analytical logic, validate results, and design a user‑friendly interface for broader adoption.

Requirements

  • Strong Python programming skill.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel and Tableau.
  • Solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with databases and data modeling concepts.
  • Understanding of statistical concepts.
  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM fields.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of applying Python to real-world applications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor equipment or manufacturing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Data Extraction Design and implement logic to identify base parts and interchangeable parts using lineage, correlation and historical mapping data. Develop filtering and selection rules to determine valid analysis candidates (contract type, tool type, application, etc.). Extract part transaction records of valid candidates from Applied internal data source
  • Data Analysis Process part transactions and compute average part lifetime by usage metrics (orders, modules, period, etc.) Perform benchmarking across contracts, tools, and applications to generate statistical insights.
  • Interface Design Build a clear and user-friendly input configuration and output reporting interface. Create useful visualizations, summary tables, and automated reports.
  • Validation & Continuous Improvement Validate application outputs against known data and engineering expectations. Propose enhancements to logic, workflow, and application functions. Provide ideas for how the tool can be integrated into future production systems.
