Program Overview The Starr Summer Internship Program is a 9-week paid internship opportunity designed to identify, develop, and retain high-potential college students. Used as a pipeline for full-time talent, this program offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a strong foundation in the insurance industry. As an Intern, you will work in one of Starr’s various departments, learning business and contributing to your team. The internship complements your department work by offering professional development opportunities and exposure to key functions of the organization. This Intern position will work in the Tax department in NYC. This is not a rotational program

Requirements

  • Risk Management or Insurance major or student with relevant coursework.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to problem-solve and think analytically.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • A self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for learning and growth and demonstrated leadership potential.

Responsibilities

  • This role offers hands-on experience supporting U.S., Bermuda, and international tax initiatives including: Bermuda corporate income tax compliance, reporting and analysis.
  • OECD Pillar Two tax analysis and reporting
  • Prepare and update tax workpapers and supporting schedules using Excel.
  • Assist with U.S. federal and state tax compliance processes.
  • Support data collection and analysis for Bermuda corporate income tax, Pillar Two and other areas as needed.
  • Support reporting of global effective tax rate competitive analysis and other analysis, as needed.
  • Perform basic tax and finance research and communicate findings.
  • Participate in Starr’s Global Intern Program .
