The Register-Guard in Eugene, Oregon, is offering a paid multimedia journalism internship for college students and recent graduates. This 10-week program is specifically open to candidates selected by The Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism.

Requirements

Enrolled in or recently graduated from a journalism program (junior year or beyond preferred).
Strong writing, research, and fact-checking skills.
Familiarity with AP style.
Critical thinking, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Availability for some evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

Gain hands-on experience in multimedia journalism.
Cover breaking news, sports, features, and politics.
Write headlines, create social media content, and engage in multimedia storytelling.
Perform photography, videography, and investigative journalism.
Participate in training led by veteran journalists on topics such as interviewing, writing on deadline, ethics, source development, and open records.
Create 4-5 photos and video stories per week, including breaking news, features, and event coverage.
Conduct interviews (in person, by phone, or virtually).
Research and gather information from various sources.
Produce multimedia content to support stories.
Collaborate in brainstorming sessions.
