Role Overview: New York Life Direct’s Business, Employee & Workplace (BEW) team plays a critical role in enabling an effective, engaging, and scalable employee experience that supports overall business performance. The team focuses on the people, processes, and workplace practices that allow employees to do their best work while driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Beginning in June and ending in August, this 10-week summer internship provides hands-on exposure and real-world experience supporting employee engagement, learning and development, workplace initiatives, and operational improvement efforts within NYL Direct. Interns will work closely with BEW team members and cross-functional partners to support programs and initiatives that directly impact employee experience and business outcomes. This hybrid role includes in-office collaboration and offers meaningful interaction with senior leaders, business partners, and fellow interns.

  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resources, Communications, Psychology, or a related field at an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Demonstrated leadership or meaningful involvement in campus, athletic, or community activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Forms, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using tools such as Canva or similar platforms to create visual or presentation materials
  • Ability to support basic budget tracking and coordination for events or initiatives
  • To be eligible for this program, you must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • This program is not available to individuals working under OPT or CPT.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings and cross-functional discussions to gain exposure to business operations and employee-focused initiatives
  • Assist in planning and executing a live employee development experience, including logistics, coordination, and communications
  • Support the planning and execution of an employee recognition event tied to the annual internal fundraising campaign, including budget tracking and event communications
  • Analyze data to support insights, reporting, and recommendations that inform decision-making
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and requests as business needs arise
  • Contribute to special projects and a final internship presentation
  • Participate in professional development workshops, networking events, and fireside chats with senior leaders
