In the Operations and Mission Analysis Department you’ll be part of a special team that analyzes the world’s most challenging threats and helps define new capabilities to counter them, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and leading the industry in operational modeling and simulation using our purpose-built software. As a team member in the Air Dominance Modeling and Analysis section, you will join a high-performing team of engineers working with high-fidelity sensor, platform, and weapon simulations to provide actionable analysis to the Department of Defense and the Warfighter. Raytheon is currently seeking a Kill Chain Software Developer Intern for Summer 2026. This is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program and will be a Senior or Post Graduate standing level by the start of Summer 2026
  • Experience with at least one object oriented programming language (Python, C++, Java, C#, etc)
  • Experience with Linux and Linux command line
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0
  • Coursework, internship, projects or work experience in the following areas: Simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems
  • Agile development methodologies
  • Probability and statistics
  • Software development processes and object-oriented design using and/or Python in either Unix or Linux computing environments.
  • Software Configuration Management tools and processes (git, subversion, mercurial)
  • Computation on high-performance computing (HPC) grids/clusters, SLURM
  • Distributed simulation communication standards (DIS, TENA, HLA)
  • DevOps tools, processes, and methods
  • Demonstrated ability in the following areas: Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with peers, customers, management, and functional partners (IT, Cyber Security, Security).
  • Creation and presentation of effective technical reports in PowerPoint and Document form.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate as a member of an agile development team
  • Design, Develop, Review and Test new software features in an all-digital distributed simulation environment
  • Work closely with senior developers to implement APIs and integration external high-fidelity digital simulation software into Raytheon’s Air Dominance Testbed and Air Combat Evaluation Model®.
  • Provide direct Warfighter support by developing software used to inform operator tactics and procedures.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to verify and validate digital simulation performance
  • Work cross-domain to develop medium-fidelity physics models of conceptual missile systems
  • Expand your knowledge base in various software and system components to be able to support a wide variety of software development tasks.
