About The Position

This 8-12 week internship program is designed to empower growth by exploring the dynamic nature of the defense industry through the Andover Environmental, Health & Safety team. This team is responsible for providing services and solutions to safeguard people and protect the environment. Throughout the summer, you will be able to expand your knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety as a whole while also gaining unprecedented exposure to leadership along the way. You’ll have opportunities to meet with other intern program participants, engage with senior leaders on topics of innovation, leadership and technology, and connect through an individual mentorship program. Our ultimate goal is to bring great talent to Raytheon.

Requirements

  • Must be at least a sophomore by the start of summer 2026 pursuing a degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical), Science (Environmental, Health, Safety – Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene), Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related environmental or sustainability discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Responsibilities

  • Propel the site’s environmental compliance and sustainability programs in alignment with the following 2030 sustainability goals: 46% reduction in greenhouse gases 15% reduction in water use
  • Coordinate a “Shut-it-Off” (SIO) campaign to promote energy conservation across the site. Responsibilities include estimating energy savings using SIO calculators, site-specific energy pricing, and electricity usage. In addition, identify non-programmable equipment and implement SIO process for this equipment through communications and signage.
  • Review site water usage and current metering. Based on review, identify water-intensive processes that do not have sufficient metering. Propose locations to install additional metering which would allow the site to more closely track these processes to gain insights into water-saving opportunities.
  • Review the site’s toxics use reporting and reduction plan. Meet with key stakeholders and perform research to identify opportunities to reduce usage of these toxic chemicals through substitution, engineering controls, operation and maintenance improvements, process modernization, etc.
  • Additional tasks and smaller projects related to environmental compliance and sustainability may be assigned based on time available and intern’s interest.
