About The Position

Kickstart your career with hands-on experience at New England’s largest electric utility. As an Eversource Engineering Intern, you’ll gain real-world exposure to the energy industry while receiving professional development, coaching, and training. Interns are valued team members, contributing fresh perspectives and innovative solutions across a variety of projects. The Eversource Intern & Co-op program is designed to energize your summer with hands-on learning, leadership exposure, and real-world impact. From day one, interns dive into immersive experiences like “Our Business, Our Future” with senior leaders, skill-building sessions through LinkedIn Learning and Toastmasters, and thought-provoking Catalyst Conversations covering everything from clean energy to customer experience. We promote wellness through virtual health sessions and encourage giving back with volunteer opportunities. Career exploration, networking panels, and our Intern Showcase ensure you're not just observing — you're contributing. Top it off with National Intern Day fun and you’ve got a summer that’s anything but ordinary! The CT GIS Mapping Group is responsible for maintaining a state-of-the-art GIS database that captures the location and condition of distribution, substation and land-base assets relevant to Eversource’s electric network. This internship offers an opportunity to gain work experience and become familiar with the working environment at Eversource and the use of GIS within utilities in general. The intern will be responsible for assisting with data maintenance in the GIS database and related projects. The scope of the projects will be based on the current needs of the mapping group. Data will be mostly digital, but it may be necessary to reference older paper records in order to reconcile data conflicts. The intern will work together with GIS team members, but you should also be comfortable working independently with little supervision. This is a paid full-time, in-person position from May 27 through August 14, 2026 (flexible) between the hours of 7am and 4:30pm. In addition to GIS, you will be engaging with other interns throughout the company via University Relations events including professional development, networking opportunities, and community involvement. The internship culminates with a presentation of your work to the Grid Modernization team.
