Position Summary: The Finance & Accounting department supports a wide variety of functions across Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, and Management Reporting.. Interns will be working with one or more of these groups based on interest and availability of work. Typical tasks include assistance with daily, monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables and process improvement projects. Interns will work hand in hand with several staff members throughout the summer and learn about Mizuho’s diverse product lines and how a Finance department supports traders and bankers, management, and external clients as well as regulators such as the Federal Reserve, FINRA and SEC.
Requirements
- Preferred Majors: Accounting or Finance
- Expected Graduation Date of Spring 2027
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.2
- High attention to detail
- Fast learner and team player
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables); knowledge of Alteryx is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate ideas
Responsibilities
- Support month-end General Ledger closes including: preparing accrual adjustments, preparing Balance Sheet analyses, uploading journal entries
- Prepare monthly Inter-Company invoices to settle affiliate transitions
- Prepare daily guarantee fee calculation
- Prepare opening/closing applications of Tender Bond Options (for head office reporting to Tokyo)
- Support preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly Regulatory reports
- Support User Acceptance Testing for current on-going projects
