The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Undergraduate Communications Specialist Intern to join our Content Strategy and Development team for the summer. In this role, you will be supporting creative storytelling that highlights the exciting work of Aerospace and our dedicated, world-class experts shaping the future of space. Responsibilities will include writing technical feature stories, developing brand assets, and collaborating with other creative services departments. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at Aerospace’s Technology Campus in El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated mastery of grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Basic proficiency with web and digital tools for content creation and publication
  • Familiarity with AP style
  • Must be detail-oriented and work well in a team environment
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and projects
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations
  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Creative Writing or related discipline
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship
  • Minimum Sophomore class standing by internship start date
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
  • Transcripts required
  • Writing sample required with resume submission

Nice To Haves

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Examples of published works across a variety of project, media and storytelling forms
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (WordPress, Drupal, etc.) and Web Analytics tools (Google Analytics, Tableau, Hootsuite, etc.)
  • Additional skills and experience for producing other forms of content, including video, podcasts, social media, graphics, etc.
  • Customer service-oriented and effective interpersonal skills and experience
  • Strong collaborative skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting in researching and writing feature articles for external audiences and company news content for internal communication channels
  • Collaborate with other teams within the division for storytelling needs that package written content with videos, photos, graphics and web functionality
  • Support metrics tracking and data analytics processes to measure audience engagement for content and other communication products
  • Contribute to writing and editing copy on an ad hoc basis for press releases, video scripts, corporate announcements, employee emails, and similar communication channels
  • Training and mentorship will be provided
