Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is looking a 1st Class Marine Electrician to work in Suffolk, Virginia 50% travel required within and outside of the continental United States. Work Schedule: Monday thru Saturday 10 hours a day (as needed). Responsibilities + Marine Electricians install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including interior communications. + As a Marine Electrician, you will be essential in maintaining and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels. + Must have knowledge and experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment on board vessels and in shipyard facilities. + Marine Electrician applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. + Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering, changes. + Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. + Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians. + Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement, and performance consistent with company values. + Under guidance, install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures by performing alterations and installations for fleet modernization on US Navy surface ships. + Perform all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, or fiber optic onboard Navy vessels. + Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, work orders, technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. + Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and cables.Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment to efficiently eliminate problems. + Perform removal and installation of cables found overhead, along bulkheads, or under the deck. + Repair and replace cables/connectors. + Apply understanding of production processes towards completion of complicated and non-routine tasks related to installations on shipboard systems and related equipment at company, and/or field locations in accordance with established quality and safety procedures. + May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications. + Maintain effective supervisor and manager communications and relations. + Remove, plan, execute, install, and modify electrical cable, cableways, conductors, connectors, strain relief, fasteners, and equipment aboard naval vessels. + Complete electrical and data conductor disconnections and reconnections on existing and new equipment for a complete installation.
