As a Zoo School Teacher Assistant at the San Antonio Zoo, you will play a vital role in the educational experience of young children aged 3-5 at the Will Smith Zoo School, a nature-based preschool. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and conservation. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of educators to implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program that aligns with the mission and principles of the San Antonio Zoo. Your responsibilities will include assisting the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging classroom environment, facilitating activities that promote inquiry and exploration, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices in early childhood education. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to engage with parents and other educational audiences, fostering a community that values nature play and conservation. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining the classroom space, facilitating smooth transitions between activities, and effectively communicating conservation messages to participants.
