About The Position

The Zone Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a multi-craft maintenance shop at Indiana University. This role ensures the provision of safe, efficient, and quality maintenance services across campus facilities. The manager will administer personnel actions, identify maintenance needs, and develop preventative maintenance activities to enhance the life cycle of university properties. Additionally, the position serves as a liaison with various stakeholders and participates in emergency on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University.

  • Experience in facility management or related fields beyond the minimum required.
  • Knowledge of industry Facility Operations standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily work activities for personnel in a multi-craft maintenance shop.
  • Administer personnel actions including hiring, recognition, and training.
  • Identify facility maintenance needs through tours and inspections.
  • Develop maintenance project lists and participate in design and budget discussions.
  • Serve as the primary facility liaison with departmental and external contacts.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance activities across all work units.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for campus emergencies.
  • Establish short-term operational objectives and implement solutions for operational efficiency.
  • Analyze and evaluate performance of assigned staff, conducting performance reviews as needed.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and effective scheduling for maintenance staff.
