About The Position

Summary: Zermount is a dynamic and innovative technology company dedicated to delivering high-quality software solutions. We are seeking a passionate Quality Assurance, System Testing, Network Testing, Security Testing, Zero Trust Validation, and Backend Engineer to join our team and ensure compliance standards and strengthen the organization's security infrastructure. In this role, you will leverage expertise as Quality Assurance, System Testing, Network Testing, Security Testing, Zero Trust Validation, and Backend Engineer to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of ZT principles, associated controls, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommend remediation measures to enhance the organization's ZT maturity level and overall security posture. You will be involved in assisting in the engineering and recommending ZT solutions to meet compliance standards and strengthen the organization's security infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in quality assurance, system testing, network testing, security testing, ZT validation, database management, and backend development within a software development environment.
• Proficiency in test planning, test case design, and defect tracking.
• Strong scripting and programming skills for test automation (e.g., Python, Java, or similar).
• Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Minimum of active Secret Clearance.
• Ability to pass a minimum background investigation.

Nice To Haves

• ISTQB or similar software testing certification.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Understanding of agile development methodologies.
• Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Backend development experience with languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Knowledge of network testing tools and protocols (e.g., Wireshark, TCP/IP).
• Experience in security testing and knowledge of security standards (e.g., OWASP).
• Familiarity with Zero Trust (ZT) principles and implementation.
• A minimum of at least one of the following certifications is preferred: Certified Authorization Professional (CAP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO), or any certification compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher.

Responsibilities

• Zero Trust (ZT) Validations to include the validation of implementations of Zero Trust principles and security measures within the software architecture, collaboration with ZT experts to identify gaps in security and access controls, development of comprehensive implementation plans to plan ensure optimal security, and verification of continuous monitoring and auditing for adherence to ZT policies.
• Document audit findings, observations, and recommendations related to ZT compliance in clear and concise reports.
• Provide actionable / risk-based recommendations for improving the implementation of ZT principles and associated controls, addressing non-compliance issues, and enhancing the overall ZT maturity level and security posture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure proper documentation and tracking of identified vulnerabilities and the progress of remediation activities.
• Collaborate with IT teams, System Owners, and ISSOs to develop and implement remediation plans for identified ZT security vulnerabilities and non-compliance issues. Assist in the design of ZT capabilities and processes to mitigate risks, enhance compliance, and strengthen the organization's security posture.
• Provide guidance / support to stakeholders in remediating ZT gaps, security issues and improving compliance status.
• Conduct technical vulnerability assessments and configuration testing specific to ZT principles and maturity model requirements to identify potential security weaknesses and recommend remediation measures.
• Leveraging expertise as Quality Assurance, System Testing, Network Testing, Security Testing, and Backend Engineer to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of ZT principles, you will perform the following:
• Develop and assist in the execution of comprehensive test plans and test cases to validate software functionality and performance.
• Identify and document software defects and collaborate with the development team to resolve issues.
• Participate in requirements analysis to ensure test coverage aligns with project requirements.
• Implement and maintain automated test cases to streamline testing processes.
• Assist in the execution of system-level testing to verify the integration of software components and modules.
• Evaluate system performance, scalability, and reliability under various conditions.
• Create and maintain system test documentation, including test plans and reports.
• Assist in the performance of network testing to assess the software's performance, security, and reliability in networked environments.
• Identify and address network-related issues and bottlenecks that may impact system functionality.
• Collaborate with network administrators and developers to optimize network performance.
• Assist in the execution of / Conduct analysis of security testing to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the software.
• Collaborate with the security team to implement and validate security controls and best practices.
• Validate compliance with industry standards and security protocols.
• Conduct analysis of database design, implementation, and database schemas, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless integration between the application and the database.
• Contribute to the development of backend services, APIs, and server-side components.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure smooth communication between the front and back ends.
• Provide guidance on the implementation of security measures and best practices in backend development.
• Participate in code reviews and provide guidance on the maintenance of code quality and consistency.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and testing methodologies.
• Propose improvements to testing processes, database management, network testing, security testing, ZT validation, and backend development to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify process enhancements within the QA and development teams.
