The Position: We are seeking an experienced Zeiss CMM Programmer to support our aerospace and defense machining operations. This role is responsible for developing, validating, and maintaining CMM inspection programs for high-precision components manufactured from complex castings and forgings. The position collaborates closely with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure dimensional accuracy and full compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+years of experience programming CMMs (Zeiss preferred) in an aerospace or precision machining environment.
  • Expert-level understanding of Calypso software, GD&T, and AS9102 documentation.
  • Experience inspecting machined castings and forgings to tight tolerances.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex CAD data (SolidWorks, STP, IGES)
  • Proven teamwork and effective communication skills across Quality, Engineering, and Production.

Responsibilities

  • Program and optimize Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software.
  • Interpret 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T to create effective measurement strategies.
  • Lead and document First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 requirements.
  • Generate and analyze detailed dimensional reports using Calypso and reporting tools such as PiWeb/QDAS/QC-CALC.
  • Support dimensional troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and validate inspection programs for repeatability, accuracy, and process stability.
  • Conduct and support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce quality inspections through improved capability.
