About The Position

The position of Zamboni Driver is responsible for the ice rink, proper safe operation of the ice resurfacer (Zamboni), maintenance of all areas pertaining to and or involved in maintaining a quality sheet of ice for a professional hockey team. The Zamboni Driver will report to the Operations Manager. The Tahoe Blue Event Center is a premier sports and live entertainment facility and is proudly managed by OVG. The Tahoe Blue Event Center is located in the Stateline, Nevada area of South Lake Tahoe, between the peaks of Heavenly Mountain Resort and beautiful Lake Tahoe. The multi-purpose sports & entertainment venue opened in September 2023 and has flexible arena space for concerts, comedians, family shows, sporting events and more.

Requirements

  • A strong communicator: be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format to management and staff as well as to all types of clients
  • Organized, able to prioritize, and have strong time management skills
  • Able to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and service oriented.
  • Strong orientation to customer service and ability to work with other staff members in the facility.
  • Prior experience driving a Zamboni machine required.
  • Prior experience with ice maintenance
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to perform strenuous physical duties at time, including lifting, carrying, moving and climbing.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, stooping, lifting and walking.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous facility operations experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general physical labor associated with set up and break down for events i.e. ice install, ice maintenance, glass repair, rink repair.
  • Make repairs as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Operate a forklift truck.
  • Drive zamboni during hockey games maintaining the ice to AHL and/or NCAA standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
