About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking experienced welders to support our vehicle fabrication on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Welders experienced with low or high carbon steel alloys, stainless steels, ferrous and non-ferrous materials such as titanium, aluminum plates, castings, forgings, or structural shapes are encouraged to apply. Welders are responsible for the set-up and operation of handheld or machine guided welding equipment. Material joining or build up would be accomplished by utilizing positioners, fixtures, hand layout or any other means per the process documentation. The welding processes may include mig wire, dual shield, flux core, submerged arc, tig or stick electrode welding, carbon arc gouging, plasma arc gouging, and oxy-acetylene cutting. Welders will operate support equipment such as jib or overhead cranes, portable chippers, grinders, and various hand tools such as wrenches, brushes, lighters, scales, squares, weld gauges, etc. Welders interact with Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Weld Techs and Inspection personnel that support the production process. All employees will be required to pass a medical fit for duty examination including pulmonary function and vision screenings. Selected candidates will be trained and certified to the applicable welding specifications. Weld Candidate Testing: Must be able to pass initial written test administered on-site to establish working comprehension of weld symbols, measurements, work instructions, etc. Upon successful completion of written test, must be able to pass on-site, hands-on weld plate test. Starting pay $35.56 plus $1.25 shift differential for 2nd or 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years weld experience with a High School diploma or GED.
  • 0-1 years weld experience with a Trade School certificate or College degree.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers or other data acquisition devices.
  • Sufficient working experience utilizing the tools, equipment, machinery, and materials as noted in the job description.

Responsibilities
