The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is seeking a dedicated YPL Children's Services Assistant to join the team at the Rainbow Library. This part-time position, under the general supervision of the YPL Children's Services Department Head, involves a variety of paraprofessional public service tasks aimed at supporting the Children's Services Department. The successful candidate will engage with children, young adults, and adult patrons, providing essential reference services and assistance in navigating the library's resources. This role is crucial in fostering a love for reading and learning among young patrons and their families. In this position, the Children's Services Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of children's services and ensuring that the calendar of programs, activities, and events is up to date. The assistant will prepare and conduct programs for patrons up to 18 years of age, as well as for adults interested in children's services. Additionally, the role includes conducting tours of the Children's Services Department for various groups, promoting library resources, and ensuring the physical maintenance of library materials. The Children's Services Assistant will also interact extensively with patrons and staff, providing information about district-wide activities and services. Utilizing personal computers and automated library systems, the assistant will perform various administrative tasks, maintain records, and ensure compliance with library policies.
