About The Position

We are looking for an Hourly YouthCity High School Program Instructor to provide supervision and mentorship to High School students and implement the YouthCity high school program goals. About the Position: This role requires you to teach, implement curriculum, build relationships, collaborate with partners and families, communicate with the Senior Community Program Manager, collect data, and develop effective strategies to meet and exceed YouthCity’s organizational goals and objectives. This position will help facilitate workshops, support youth participating in program activities and internships, coach teens in career readiness and leadership development, and civic engagement, interact with city leadership, and help create a positive and structured learning environment for youth. The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and be at least 21 years old. The ideal candidate is motivated, determined, strong, outgoing, and confident, speaking in front of groups. They should be willing to learn, take initiative, and help lead and teach Teens alongside the senior community program manager. This role is ideal for someone who is a strong role model, can build relationships with youth, families and community partners. About the Team: The YouthCity High School Program Instructor will report to the Senior Community Program Manager and assist with the YouthCity high school program goals. There is 1 Director, 1 Associate Director, 1 Senior Program Community Manager, and 1 Highschool Program Instructor.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent and at least 21 years of age.
  • Possession of valid Utah Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Experience working with youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally and demonstrate public presentation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under supervision.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools for data tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate activities for teens based on learning objectives outlined by YouthCity high school programs, including employment and civic engagement pathways.
  • Complete session lesson plans based on established program goals.
  • Facilitate workshops based on career readiness, leadership, development, civic engagement, and internship or program participation.
  • Mentor and coach youth participating in the program and support them in building confidence, communication, skills, readiness for future opportunities.
  • Build positive relationships with youth, families, community partners, and city leadership.
  • Assist with program’s grant required assessments to ensure program quality metrics are met.
  • Maintain accurate tracking and documentation as required by the program.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements including tracking and monitoring youth participation and program outcomes using Excel or similar data systems.
  • Assist with program grant required assessments.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and staff trainings.
  • Performs all other duties requested.
