About The Position

The YouthBuild Outreach & Employment Specialist empowers young individuals aged 16-24 through comprehensive workforce development programs. This role focuses on supporting participants in entering the workforce, managing professional development curricula, and fostering job readiness. The specialist will implement career development programs, facilitate job search skills workshops, and maintain relationships with employers to ensure successful job placements for participants.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, human resources, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • One to three years of relevant experience in the workforce development industry.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in outreach, community engagement, or case management.
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed and accurate reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Travel and willingness to work flexible hours are required, some weekends.
  • Current driver's license, with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with court-involved youth/adults or individuals with multiple barriers to employment is preferred.
  • Related work experience may be substituted for educational qualifications.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an outreach strategy to ensure the positive enrollment of participants.
  • Reach out and develop community partnerships for the enrollment of participants.
  • Professionally represent SER National/ SER YouthBuild at community outreach events.
  • Implement a career development program that meets organizational standards and YouthBuild performance goals.
  • Develop relationships and maintain partnerships in the public and private sectors that will provide referrals, career, training, and education opportunities aligned with participants' interests and goals.
  • Meet with participants to learn their educational, job, and career goals.
  • Coach participants towards obtaining their educational, employment, or military placements.
  • Plan and organize job search skills workshops, including interviewing, resume preparation, and other skills.
  • Identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews.
  • Help identify participants' aptitudes, interests, and career paths by utilizing various online tools.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of participants’ supportive services.
  • Develop strategies for participants' transition out of the program and for post-program job development, training, and education opportunities.
  • Facilitate the completion of the job readiness portfolio with each participant.
  • Connect participants with viable, high-quality employment, training, or education opportunities that match their skills and interests.
  • Ensure participants are prepared before job interviews, and conduct follow-up assessments.
  • Assist in the educational, vocational, and/or job placement of program graduates in coordination with others.
  • In coordination with the Social Worker, maintain consistent tracking and follow-up for all program alumni.
  • Work closely with employer partners to maximize participant employment retention and success.
  • Provide evaluation, conciliation, and mediation between the employer and the employee post-job placement.
  • Organize workshops for alums, such as additional certifications, training sessions, and information sessions regarding job opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
