About The Position

The Youth Wellness Advocate is a frontline member of AWA's care team, responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutically consistent environment for adolescents (ages 13–17) in our Intensive Outpatient Program. This role bridges direct client supervision, family engagement, and clinical support across our evening program schedule. This is the right fit for someone who stays calm under pressure, connects naturally with teens, and wants to grow in the behavioral health field through real, meaningful work.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish — strongly preferred
  • Experience working with youth in school, clinical, community, or residential settings — strongly preferred
  • Currently enrolled in or graduate of a Bachelor's or Master's program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field — ideal
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to engage both adolescents and parents with professionalism and care
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced in-person environment

Responsibilities

  • Supervise adolescents during groups, transitions, breaks, and unstructured time — maintaining structure and therapeutic consistency throughout the shift
  • Greet families at drop-off and pick-up with warmth and professionalism; serve as a bilingual point of contact (English/Spanish) for parent communication
  • Manage front desk operations: phones, attendance tracking, and client sign-in/sign-out
  • Complete wellness check-ins, incident documentation, and real-time safety updates to clinical leadership
  • Support clinicians in maintaining program flow and scheduled group sessions
  • Respond to escalated behaviors using trauma-informed de-escalation strategies and established crisis protocols
  • Assist with light administrative and program operations tasks as needed

Benefits

  • Wellness Advocates at AWA are genuine members of the treatment team — not support staff on the sidelines. You'll receive mentorship from licensed clinicians, build direct experience in adolescent mental health care, and contribute to outcomes that matter for teens and families navigating one of the hardest periods of their lives. If you're building a career in behavioral health, this is where that foundation starts.
