About The Position

Youth Tennis Instructor (Summer 2026) Expected Start Date: May 2026 Details Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt Starts at $14.00- $16.00/hour (depending on qualifications) Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Youth Sports and Community Programming and receives work direction from Tennis Coordinator. Located at various tennis courts and parks in Eden Prairie. Position runs May - August 2026, hours vary. Responsibilities The Youth Tennis Lesson Instructor position specializes in teaching tennis skills to youth ages five and older through summer instructional programs. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are: Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and communicates the objectives to participants; plans and instructs lessons through discussions, demonstrations, and class participation. Oversees all tennis lessons and ensures a safe, friendly, and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants. Observes and evaluates participant’s performance and lesson structure to ensure development and satisfaction of all participants. Has clean and friendly communication skills with parents Attends USTA Coaching workshop prior to start of the season While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City. Requirements Must be current or able to become current in CPR and First Aid certification prior to first day of programming. At least one (1) year prior tennis teaching experience preferred. This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 50 lbs, bend/stand/reach, and play tennis at a recreational level. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification. Skills Able to convey a message to get a point across.
