About The Position

The Youth Team Advance Team Coach will work collaboratively with a team of coaches to deliver practice content for a youth climbing team. This role is focused on fostering a supportive and goal-oriented environment for young climbers, helping them develop both their climbing skills and life skills through the sport. The coach will partner with the Team Manager and other supervisors to create transformative experiences for youth athletes.

Requirements

• Strong coaching personality and ability to be the 'heart' of the competition team.
• Passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
• Current USA Climbing Coach membership or ability to obtain it immediately upon hire, including Safesport, First Aid, and CPR certifications.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to climb V6 or 5.12+ is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge and experience with USA Climbing competitions, routesetting, and/or competitive climbing.

Responsibilities

• Act as the 'Culture Keeper' for the team, ensuring activities promote core values.
• Monitor energy levels and support both the coaching team and athletes.
• Demonstrate empathy and compassion to build meaningful relationships with coaches and athletes.
• Collaborate with the Team Manager to build the season schedule, including parent meetings, competitions, training camps, and events.
• Plan and run daily practices in conjunction with Team Manager and Lead Coaches.
• Coach at all practices and attend all extra-curricular events and competitions.
• Supervise youth climbers during bouldering, speed climbing, lead climbing, and belaying activities.
• Assist the Team Manager with administrative duties, including monitoring team rosters and applications, tracking belay training, and organizing practice notes.
• Communicate effectively with parents, coaching staff, and management regarding any issues or concerns.
