About The Position

Are you a young adult in recovery from mental health challenges who wants to use your lived experience to uplift others? We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Youth Support Specialist to join our team and provide meaningful peer support to youth navigating mental health services. The Youth Support Specialist is an individual who is receiving or has received services and supports related to the diagnosis of a mental illness, is in recovery from that illness, and who is willing to self-identify on this basis with BHH members. This position provides the youth assistance with system navigation and to support youths in feeling less outnumbered when they meet with adults. The Youth Support Specialist assists in identifying support networks for clients. As a Youth Support Specialist, you will empower young people by helping them navigate complex systems, build confidence in adult-led environments, and strengthen their support networks. Requirements

  • Provisional certification or be willing to obtain within nine months from the date of hire and must maintain certification requirements as defined by Section 92 rule. And complete full certification within twelve months of hire date and successfully maintain certification through a department-approved curriculum.
  • The Youth Support Specialist is an individual aged 18-30, who is receiving or has received services and supports, or who has a family member who has received services and supports related to the diagnosis of a mental illness, is in recovery from that illness, and who is willing to self-identify on this basis with BHH members.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR and Blood borne Pathogens certification with 60 days of hire (training provided)
  • Must complete Safety Care training within 60 days of hire (training provided)
  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of combined work experience preferred.
  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.
