About The Position

RIDGEVIEW , a not-for-profit community mental health center, has an immediate opening for a full-time (school year only) Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist. The position is primarily located in Anderson County but is split among various locations. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a mental health/social science discipline and one year experience in early intervention/substance abuse counseling preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Demonstrate competency in working with children and adolescents (ages 12-18 years), familiarity with and/or experience in school setting helpful; individual and group therapy skills required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the implementation and ongoing operation of the Amazing Discoveries school-based programs as they are defined and funded by the TN Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
• Presentation of classroom programming based on Too Good for Drugs curriculum guidelines
• Adventure based counseling
• Networking and referral to community resources.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with school systems and other community service agencies.
