About The Position

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Youth Sports Coordinator leads and manages youth sports and specialty programs, with a primary focus on basketball, ensuring a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for all participants. This role serves as the primary point of contact for volunteer coaches, parents, and participants while maintaining program excellence and alignment with the YMCA of the Pines values. Hours: 10–15 hours per week based on program needs, primary availability must include weeknights (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and Saturday morning/early afternoons. Requirements

  • Strong basketball background required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in coaching or youth sports preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee youth sports and specialty programs, primary focus on youth basketball
  • Create and manage team rosters and schedules
  • Lead on-site program operations during practices and games
  • Substitute as coach when needed
  • Assist with setup and breakdown and clean up of program areas
  • Recruit and support volunteer coaches
  • Communicate expectations and schedules
  • Ensure a positive and inclusive environment
  • Address concerns and escalate issues when needed
  • Ensure all documentation and requirements are met
  • Ability to create and update programs in Daxko Operations
  • Serve as primary contact for parents and participants
  • Send program updates and communications
  • Make outreach calls as needed
  • Resolve conflicts professionally
  • Collaborate with leadership to enhance programs
  • Assist in developing new offerings
  • Monitor participation and provide feedback
  • Maintain equipment inventory
  • Ensure proper setup and safety
  • Keep facility clean after programs
  • Ensure a safe environment for all participants
  • Enforce YMCA policies
  • Respond to incidents and complete reports
