About The Position
The Youth Sports Coordinator will play a vital role in the development and delivery of youth sports programming at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. This part-time, seasonal position is designed for individuals who are passionate about working with children and promoting healthy living through sports. The coordinator will be responsible for instructing classes, officiating youth sports games, and providing on-site leadership during practices and games. This role requires a commitment to creating a culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate environment for all participants, ensuring that every child has a positive experience in the program. In addition to direct interaction with youth, the Youth Sports Coordinator will provide guidance and support to youth sports instructors, referees, and volunteers. This includes conducting staff meetings and training sessions to ensure that all staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively engage with participants. The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and organized environment by ensuring that all supplies are clean, properly set up, and stored. Engaging with parents and guardians is also a key aspect of this role, as the coordinator will need to communicate important information regarding their child's experience and promote upcoming programs. The position is based at Terminal Park Elementary School and requires availability on Wednesdays from 3-5pm, with occasional opportunities to cover Monday shifts. The season runs from September 16 to November 20, with a proposed start date of September 4.
