About The Position

The job involves the activities pertaining to the participants in Goodwill’s Youth Program and providing services to youth and their families through partnership with local school districts and youth-serving organizations.

Requirements

  • Must have at minimum: A bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, social services, sociology, or psychology and At least one year of full-time experience working with youth.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  • Must have up-to-date University of North Texas Workplace Inclusive and Sustainable Employment (UNTWISE) Job Skills Training Credential and Job Placement Credential or be willing/approved to obtain all credentials within the first ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Proven ability to work with individuals with different interests and opinions and to build effective teams in a volunteer environment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a wide range of people.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Appropriate level of computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High level of energy, motivation, persistence, and positive attitude.
  • Must be able to stand up to eight hours a day.
  • Must be able to walk up to eight hours per day.
  • Must be able use hands and arms to handle, feel, and reach.
  • Must have sufficient eyesight and manual dexterity to discriminate between and classify items.
  • Must be able to bend and twist frequently.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry 25 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches and less) and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).

Responsibilities

  • Promote the general objectives and goals of Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries (Goodwill).
  • Interpret Goodwill’s programs to the public and other agencies while maintaining good working relationships with those agencies.
  • Ensure Goodwill meets or exceeds program standards as by funders, partners, and other local sponsoring agencies.
  • Maintain participant files and ensure that confidentiality of all records is maintained.
  • Identify appropriate and inappropriate work behaviors, personal and social functioning of participants, instruct them toward planned goals and objectives, and monitor the progress.
  • Ensure participant evaluations and case notes are completed and submitted to the referring agency in a timely manner.
  • Assist in integration of current and new service programs.
  • Conduct professional encounters/meetings with referring agencies and other support personnel concerning participant service programs and behaviors.
  • Attend ARD meetings at local school districts and any other support meetings involving participants and/or designated programs.
  • Develop Individualized Service Plans for all program participants.
  • Assist participants with job placement in the community.
  • Conduct in-person, virtual, and off-site classes and other trainings needed by participants using formal training programs or by developing new curriculum.
  • Assist in the development and design of individual, classroom based, and virtual training services.
  • Assist in the creation of curriculum for training(s) to include instructor’s guides, slideshow presentations, participant handouts, tests, assessments, and any other material needed to effectively present and evaluate the material.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Mission Services management staff.
