About The Position

The Youth Services Specialist I position at the Campus at Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center is a full-time role focused on providing direct care and supervision to youth in a secure facility. The specialist will engage with youth through programming, documentation, and training, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This role is essential for promoting positive youth development and maintaining organizational accountability within the Division of Youth Services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Ability to physically intervene with assaultive youth.
• Willingness to work shift hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• College education in a behavioral health or juvenile justice related field.
• Experience working with adjudicated and/or detained youth in a secure residential facility.
• Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups and working with adolescents who have trauma.
• Experience utilizing verbal de-escalation and motivational techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, safety, security, and supervision of adjudicated and/or pre-adjudicated youth in a secure setting.
• Monitor and enforce behavioral management plans for individual youth as directed.
• Implement and follow the Youth Center's behavioral management program, teaching and coaching youth.
• Document observations of youth behavior and unit activities in appropriate logs and records systems.
• Demonstrate and contribute to a healthy, positive, and respectful cultural climate throughout the Youth Center.
• Complete DYS Pre-Service training academy and maintain required training and certifications.
